Accidentology - Traffic Accident Analysis and Reconstruction

ACCIDENTOLOGY

In the French dictionary, since 1996, Road safety accidentology is referred to as “scientific study of the accidents, particularly accidents involving cars, and their consequences on occupants”. A comprehensive study on traffic accident should comprise in depth analysis of the road itself, of the human behaviour and of the vehicles involved.

Deriving from the thorough previous investigations, a scenario can be drawn using dynamic reconstruction. It is then possible to reproduce trajectories as a function of time, as well as calculate the impact velocity and the initial velocity.

The reconstruction and the 3D animation confirm the scenario according to the different phases of the accident, from the vehicle's approach in normal situation of driving to the vehicle's final rest position.
